Army Transfers Approximately 32 Acres of the former Walter Reed Army Medical Center to the Department of State

On November 6, 2015, the transfer of administrative jurisdiction from the Department of Defense, Department of the Army, to the Department of State of approximately 32 out of a total of 110 acres at the former Walter Reed Army Medical Center was finalized.  As a result, the Department of State now has official jurisdiction of this property. The District anticipates acquiring approximately 66 acres of the former Walter Reed Army Medical Center later this spring.  Additional information about the State Department’s plans can be found here.
